Hello Dolly -  WOW!  It was all fun for us then but if our children had drove back from West Palm Beach that fast we would have wrung their necks!  Why is it that we felt as if we were indespensible back then?

Do you remember how good the drinks from the Polar Bear were?  We weren't afraid then to stand in front of that building and place our orders.........Some things never change and then some things change A LOT!

Cruising... Oh what fun. Back when gas was cheap and we could pile all our friends in for trips back and forth from the lake to the hamburger joint (something castle i think.)  I remember all the trips to West Palm Beach. Some one threw up in my green corvair staionwagon( the super chicken) and I could never get the stink out. Does anyone know who was with me the night I got talked into spinning donuts on the baseball field.  My parents were so angry. Evidently some one got my tag number and reported us. And it's not like there were dozens of cars like mine. Oh and remember when my dad brought home a big ole cadillac with fins and we filled it up and cruised around in it. That was so funny. I laughed so hard I almost wet my pants. So many memoreis so little time. I gotta get back to work.

Was it Royal Castle at the intersection of Main St. and Ave A?  The route always seemed to go the bowling alley to the lake and return.  Of course that trip would include many stops as you passed someone you knew or just wanted to get something to drink.  In fact .  one night at the Royal Castle the service was so bad I climbed over the counter and started serving drinks.  Of course the management didn't appreciate my assistance.

Crusing was the only thing to do when no one had a party at thier house. I would go from Burger Chef to main then out to the lake, for a cold one or meet someone and then back to town to the Royal Castle. or over to teentown, remember that place, I remember crusing one night with sonny, wally and one other person when the cops pull us over out on airport road, the same night Ed browing store got rob. they said wally's car looked like the car. luckly the one cop remember me and let us go.

Yes Mike the infoamous "cold one".  I could drive up to either package store on Ave A across from Royal's and buy beer or liqour and they never asked for an id.  There was also a place out past the bowling alley that would sell it to me on most occassions.  Now I wish someone would ask for an id.

Oh yeah that's right.  For some reason I was thinking white castle,  That  was always the spot to take potty breaks. Is it  still there? I know the Polar Bear was still around when I went to BG last. And the beer... I just don't know how you guys could drink that mess. The smell still gets to me. Of coarse I'm hardly ever around it these days. I'd rather have a glass of wine .

Sherry was that bottle of wine in the truck yours?  You framed me.  We don't sniff the beer before we drink it like you do the wine.

Guilty as charged. ....( Not really). I was not a wine drinker back then.  And I'm NOT one of those sniffer people. There's only one kind that I like and only have it occasionally.  This may sound crazy, but my most favorite  drink these days is a couple shots of rum in one of those fruity drinks from taco bell. Especially the  strawberry. Lazy girls version of daiquiri I guess. We drank a lot of those at Rosannes parties.

Bubba, I was wondering about that myself. Where is everyone? I know there must be someone out there with something to share. I didn't even live in Belle Glade that long and I have many fond memories of the good ole days. I saw some kids at a car wash the other day and thought they are having the time of their lives and don't even realize that once it's over, it's over. You can't go back.  It's a one way ticket. No do overs. We have to make the most of each and every moment. Tomorrow isn't promised to anyone. I realized that so much when my friend Buddy died.  So don't just log on and read what everyone else thinks. Share your thoughts with the rest of us. Looking forward to a reunion next summer. Can hardly believe it's been 40 years.

Sherry, good to see you on the lets chat page. and yes where is everyone like you guys said lots of lookers but no postings,  Wake up people  time is short. Bubba did you scare everyone away (just kidding) I remember going to the dairy queen if thats the right name for it. and then Manny Delcampo and I would pour a little rum in our drinks and then start cruising around town and every where else. Back  then we didn't think of what could happen to us while drinking and driving. God really whatch out for us. I don't drink any more it's been 23 years without a drink; and I don't mis it. thank you God.

Mike I don't remember a Dairy Queen in BG I do remember the Polar Bear though.  You are right though I have to thank the Lord for preventing me from injurying or killing an innocent person because I was irresponsible.  Back to the Cruisin topic now.  When the road to the lake and back to the bowling alley didn't produce any action I would tske 715 to Pahokee and  drive up on the dike and park for a while.  Then it was off to Clewiston to see what was going on.  Sometimes I even got to come back to BG without having to call my parents.  Mind you all this "cruisin"  was done if I was alone or with one of the guys.  If I was fortunate enough to have a date with one of the girls then I tried not to do to much cruisin .  On those occassions I really wanted to go watch the submarine races at the lake.

I remember Cruising around to see who else was Cruising around. But I don't remember seeing you guys a lot. That is cause I cruised around with Gary Goggins or Arcadio Cammen. We didn't go to the Royal Castle or the bowling ally. I went to Russel’s Pool Hall a lot.  I would get 50 cents worth of gas at the station next to the burger place on Ave. E.  And cruise in my dad's Ford Falcon.  I would like to hear from Arcadio. He should be retired from the Army by now.

Biil wasn't that the Biff Burger on Ave E?  I remember the gas station across the street also.  I believe that gas station was changed and is now a Florist Shop.  Does everyone remember Mrs. Mc Donald that lived at the park?  I believe her house is still there.

I remember  going rabbit hunting with manny, we where driving back on the FFA farm coming in on the back side, when we came up on a (I Think a light green cougar ) so we  shut the lights off and eased up on the car and then hit the lights on his dad's truck and man all we saw was white tail's (not deer) jump over the front seat and drive out of thier like a mad man; we never laughed so hard. we kept it quite for a long time. I wonder if they knew it was us who surprised them.  I remember the submarine races they where a lot of fun. until the police would pull up behind you and scare the heck out of you. I think they where jealous or something. Those where the days to remember.

Mike I only know of one green Cougar in BG.  They had skipped the submarine races to go watch the cane grow.

Hi Bill,  Thanks for joining in with us. Hey, by the way,  I met your brother here in NC a few weeks ago. Small world. It's amazing how much cruisin' we could do on 50 cents worth of gas. I made  85 cents an hour at the Polar Bear and by the time I got paid I usually owed Ron money for all the IOUs for slushes or gas money during the week. We went everywhere. My mom caught me hangin' out at the  Royal Castle one night when I was supposed to be "at the library studying with friends."
