I remember the first day I walked into Ms. Hardee's class.  She looked at me and said "Walter you will sit right here and learn this if you don't learn anything else in school."  Notice she called me Walter.  She was the only teacher my entire time at any BG school that called me Walter.  I liked her because she took an interest and challenged me.

Mr. Chandler & Ms. Hicks & Ms. Schwab

I was reflecting today as I was getting ready for work and the two teacher names that came to my mind from junior high days (since I didn't get to go to high school with you) were Mr. Chandler the typing teacher - remember him.? He was the one who gotcha if you crinkled the paper and threw in the waste basket.  What a strange thing to remember.  But I can truly say I have great keyboard skills as a result of his teaching. He would have rocked in a computer class.

Second teacher that came to mind was Ms. Hicks, our Spanish teacher. She gave each of us spanish surnames for class.  My was Adela.  I had two years of Spanish with her and have to admit I learned the basics from her that continue to be with me today.  I just wish I had become more conversant in the language.  I think she went on to marry Mr. Evans, the history teacher.  He was a favorite too. I think all the 8th grade girls had a crush on him.

Then which of you remember being in the chorus and being invited to sing at Ms. Schwab's wedding to Dr. Fliehs?  I think I got invited to participate because my dad was the wedding photographer and Dr. Fliehs was a good family friend.

Hi Dolly,

Thank you,  you made me take out our 9th grade year book.....what wonderful memories....

I was looking at the many faces and names....your picture has the name 'Jimmy' on it, and then Jimmy Mincey's picture has your name on it....I smiled at that, and at the fact that someone wrote 'my lover' on Karen's picture....some of those pictures are priceless, to say the least....

I remember the fun we had in chorus with Mrs Fliehs,  and how Mr Townsend would wear a red tie on test day and then burnt it the last day of school....but my worse memory in jr high was having to watch 'Mechanized Death'.....some things you never forget.....

It was fun, thanks again....

I don't recall not liking any of my teachers.  I thought they were all very good. I really admired Vida Hardee; I loved math.  Tom Busbee was fun.  And our chemistry teacher, Mr. Johnson.  I even liked Mr. Browning.  I remember I had a good grade average and I told him I didn't want to do the required term paper.  He told me if I didn't do it, I would fail.  I tried to be logical and explain that with an F and an A, I would only get a C.  He didn't agree.  Needless to say, I did the term paper.  Oh, and Fred Stevens--he let me join the band the summer before my junior year with no talent and very little accomplishment with the sousaphone.  I remember he told me that if I fell down while we marched on the field, to just lie there and pretend to be dead.  I think he meant it, but luckily I didn't fall.  I loved our marching band.  He was a very good teacher.

I miss Mr. and Mrs. Morris very deeply.  They lived across the street and were like family.  He was an exceptional man and she was such a lovely lady.  I remember the night of our senior prom, while David and I were having our picture taken, Mrs. Morris was standing, watching us, and smiling.  I remember nothing about the prom but the memory of her smile and my happiness in the moment.

I didn't have Hardee, but the teacher that help turn me around was Mrs Stevenson she told me she would never give up on me and that I would come out of her class doing the best I can with no regrets. When I came home from the service for a visit he was thier for me also.  The teacher besides her that really gave me a second chance in life and school was my Dad. He told me things and taught me stuff, still today I teach my 2 boys and daughter. He was god sent, and I love him with all my heart.

I remember dear ole Vida Hardee. She was definately not  loved by many. But she did deserve lots of respect cause she ran a tight ship. No messing around in her class. One of my favorite teachers was Ms. G.  What a great PE teacher she was. And I guess Mr Fred Johnson had to be my most favorite of all. How do you not like someone that can help you understand all that scientific mumbo-jumbo. How much do we all remember these days anyway? I won a prize in the science fair on a project was literally throw  together in a week-end. So much for my scientific mind.  My very least favorite class was typing. It should have been a breeze, but I hated it. The only thing good about it was the pictures we made with xs.
