Heather Marie Engels, beloved daughter of Dave and Barbara Engels, passed away peacefully at home Friday, March 12, 2010.

Heather was born in Bellingham January 7, 1974. She attended Roosevelt Elementary, Whatcom Middle School, and graduated from Bellingham High School in 1992. Heather continued her education and graduated from the University of Washington where she was a member of Chi Omega.

Upon graduation she lived and worked in Los Angeles for a year. Her failing health brought her back to Bellingham.

Heather was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Brad & Ruth Bannon (Gig Harbor); aunt, Dixie Jean Hastings; and cousin, Suzanne Marie Hastings (Tacoma).

She is survived by parents, Dave & Barbara Engels of Bellingham; loving brothers, Mark (Kristi) Engels of Largo, FL and Matt Engels of Bellingham; and paternal grandparents, Ted & Barbara Engels of Bellingham.

Heather was a very caring person and will be remembered for her thoughtfulness, her love of children, travel, flowers, sunshine, and her two brothers. She will be forever in our hearts, never to be forgotten.

Her family wishes to thank everyone at Option Care of Bellingham for their outstanding care and services. A very special thank you to Sherrie Cope and Susan Powell of Option Care, Janice Hogan of Mt. Baker Kidney Center, and Doctors Barbara Bachman and William Lombard for their thoughtfulness and exemplary care of our daughter.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Heather Marie Engels Memorial Scholarship Fund in care of Julie Moody, Bellingham High School, 2020 Cornwall Ave., Bellingham, WA 98225.

A Celebration of Life was held Saturday March 20, 2010 at Westford Funeral Home.
