Lynden resident, Dewey Stremler passed away Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at the age of 80. He is remembered for his great sense of humor and quick wit and always willing to give a helping hand. Dewey was born September 7,1936 in Bellingham, WA to William and Bertha (Rutgers) Stremler. He was the second of three brothers. Dewey was a talented basketball player playing for Meridian High School and then Bellingham High School. Dewey drove truck 27 years for the Department of Transportation before moving on to Whatcom Builders for 15 years. After retirement he spent many hours at Raspberry Ridge playing golf and assisting with maintenance. Dewey loved woodworking and was known for crafting beautiful semi and dump trucks. He was an avid John Deere and Seahawk fan and enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson. Dewey is survived by children Crystal (Daryl) Garrison, Tami Jo Frase (Ron Phillips), and Brenda (Damon) Remus; 7 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. He will be missed by his brothers Del (Sue) Stremler and Dixon (Maxine) Stremler. A time of visitation will be 6 to 8 pm Thursday, February 9, 2017 at Gillies Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life service will be Friday, February 10 at 2 pm at North County Christ the King.
