In Memory

Dave Bargewell

Dave Bargewell

David Gregory Bargewell, age 57, beloved child of God passed away on March 31, 2012 after a courageous nine month battle with Lymphoma.

David graduated from Bellingham High School in 1973. He attended Western Washington University and completed a four - year Sheet Metal Worker apprenticeship through the Washington State Apprenticeship and Training Council to become a Journeyman.

David enriched life with his quick, dry wit and unique sense of humor. He was a man of integrity, deep loyalty, and possessed a genuine, non-judgmental warmth that permeated to all.

David's devotion to his wife and soul mate, Lisa, was unwavering and relentless. He foremost loved his children and took great pride in their individuality and strengths. He strove to empower Ariel and was proud of the woman of grace that she has become. He was a constant advocate for Allyann nurturing her through the bittersweet challenges of autism.

David was known for his outstanding talents in commercial and industrial HVAC. Building a positive relationship with customers, estimating, designing projects in AutoCAD, engineering, and installation all seemed to flow naturally. David felt extremely blessed to work for Barron Heating since 1986, first as a journeyman and then as a commercial estimator/project manager. He had a strong work ethic even up until his last breath.

His attention to detail and ability to fix almost anything fondly led to his nickname of "Mc-Fix-it". For fun, he designed and/or built numerous homes throughout Whatcom and Skagit Valley including his own.

David's life affirmed the basic values of family and living simply. He found great joy in family gatherings, having barbeques, riding the four wheeler with Allyann, playing Scrabble with Ariel, fishing/crabbing, taking long walks on Taylor Dock with Lisa, and family movie nights.

He was a past member of Edison Lutheran Church in Edison, Washington and Immanuel Lutheran Church in Deming, Washington.

He was preceded in death by his dear mother, Doris Bargewell.

He is survived by his wife, Lisa Bargewell (Dempsey); daughters, Ariel Bargewell (fiancée Andrew Valley), and Allyann Bargewell; father, Delbert Bargewell (Helen Montgomery); sisters, Susan Bargewell and Cindy Ashley (Chris Stuk) along with countless, valued relatives, co-workers, and friends including his life-long friend Larry Diebert.

In lieu of flowers, donations for Allyann's future needs can be made at any Whatcom Educational Credit Union in care of Ariel Bargewell.

All of our prayers for our precious David have been answered in God's timing as now he is completely pain free and healed in heaven. He will be deeply missed. We look forward to the glorious day when we will be reunited with him and our Heavenly Father.

A Celebration of David's life bearing witness to the resurrection of our Lord and Savior will be held at 3:00pm on April 7th, 2012 at The Bellingham Ferry Terminal. You may share your thoughts and memories of David with his family at www.farewelltributes.com.

At the last reunion I attended (10 years ago??) I realized as I was leaving that I had known -- yet not really known at all -- David all of my life!  He is in my first-grade class picture at Carl Cozier.  I was sorry to just sign up for this website today and and see all those who have passed.  Mrs. Bargewell (I have forgotten your first name), I am so sorry for your loss.  Your heart must be aching.  Darlene (Sorstokke) Delaney
