Absent Friends

Robert (Ron) Schaldach

                                     Robert Ronald Schaldach (1944 - 2016)

Robert passed away October 28, 2016, at the age of 72, due to complications from advanced Parkinsons, which he had courageously fought for the past 7 years.

Born to Robert and Marjorie Schaldach on May, 17, 1944, he spent his childhood in Half Moon Bay.  He graduated from Carlmont High School in 1962. He received his BA in Political Science from UC Berkeley in 1967; completed Master of Business Administration program at Cal State San Francisco 1968-1970; received his J.D. Degree from McGeorge School of Law, Sacramento, in 1978; passed the Bar in 1979, and then practiced law in the Sacramento area for 37 years.

Robert was diagnosed with Parkinson's in 2009; semi-retired, but remained a member of the Bar until his passing. Robert was a man of many talents: house builder, plumber, electrician, and auto mechanic.

He and his wife Linda loved travelling  to the coast near Mendocino and spending time with family and friends. Preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Richard Schaldach, Robert is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Linda Marie Schaldach; son, Christopher Schaldach of NJ; step-son Victor Lowry of Carmichael; sisters Charlene (Bill) Schaldach of Pleasanton, and Sheila Miller of Alaska. He was loved by his huge, extended family, which he inherited when he married Linda. He was a good and caring man, always willing to help anyone who needed it in his law practice and outside in his personal life. His passing is a great loss to all.

A celebration of life will be held on Sat., Dec. 3 at 2:00 p.m. at Robert's home (details: lindaschaldach@yahoo.com). Private interment at East Lawn, 4300 Folsom Blvd., Sacramento.

Ron was one of my closest friends at Carlmont, but as life happened we seldom saw each other in later years. I have no specific evidence of this, but I would bet money he was one of the most interesting people to ever graduate from Carlmont. One thing I know for certain, if ther is a heaven, he's up there still wearing the black derby hat he "borrowed" from me during our senior year.
