Al Rockwell

ALBERT W. ROCKWELL

1944-1972

Al died in an automobile accident in San Jose on November 8, 1972.  At the time, he was attending San Jose State University (SJSU) where he was pursuing his teaching credential.  He had previously attended College of San Mateo (CSM) for two years and Brigham Young University (BYU) for two years.

After serving four years in the United States Air Force and before pursuing his teaching credential at SJSU, Al worked for 18 months in Thailand where he had recently married.  He intended to return to Thailand to live with his wife, Doi, after he completing his studies at SJSU.

At the time of his death, AL was residing with his parents on Beverly Drive in San Carlos.

AL was an accomplished hurdler on the Carlmont track team. At CSM he was given the most valuable track performer award during his sophomore year.

In 1965 while competing at BYU, he turned in the world's then fastest time (13.8 seconds) in the 120-yard hurdles.
