Bruce Owen Brady
April 26, 1944 - March 23, 2021

Bruce was born in Washington, DC to Arthur Owen Brady and Rosalee Dolores Hearons. His father was a Merchant Marine officer, and his mother was a housewife. The family moved to the Bay Area when Arthur took command of the Merchant Marine Academy at Coyote Point.
The Brady bunch lived in the Bay area until his father’s death when Bruce was three years old. Thereafter, Bruce and his mother lived in Maine and Connecticut before returning to settle in San Carlos. Bruce graduated from Carlmont High School in 1962.
He studied at the Pasadena Playhouse, then the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City. Following his graduation from the AADA, Bruce performed in summer stock in Tennessee before enlisting in the Army. One part of his military training, the Army Information School, led him to his love of writing.
Bruce's final post was Hunter Army Airfield at Savannah, GA, where he met a local girl called Beth. Bruce loved Savannah and decided to stay. He was active in the local theater and made many friends there. He returned to California in 1973 and was reunited with Beth. Her daughter, April, was the flower girl at their wedding in October 1974, and was firmly embedded in his heart. The little family lived in Campbell for 19 years before moving to Santa Clara in 1993.

Bruce worked at Sav-On Drugs, Campbell Camera Works, and Valley Credit Union, before retiring due to disability. He pursued his writing and photography all along. Bruce's articles and photographs appeared in local, regional, and national publications, including the San Jose Mercury News and Sports Afield.
Bruce was an avid outdoorsman and took his family camping and fishing until he was no longer able. He was a Life Member of the NRA, a Certified Instructor in multiple firearms, a Distinguished Expert Marksman, and a Range Master. He taught others to be responsible gun owners and to enjoy target shooting.
Bruce resided at Pacific Gardens Assisted Living in Santa Clara from late 2017 until his passing.
