Randall H. Gates Sr. 1955-2013 Randall H. Gates Sr, 57 a resident of Mattison Road died Peacefully Saturday July 13, 2013 at Centers For Living and Rehabilitation in the comfort of his loving family. Randy was born in Bennington on December 2, 1955, he was the son of Charles and Lillian (McIntire) Gates, he grew up in Pownal where he attended Pownal Elementary, and graduated from Mt. Anthony Union High School, Class of 1974.Randy was currently working at Steiner Film in Williamstown where he was a Electronics Technician, he used his talents to diagnose and trouble shoot the companies many electronic systems. Prior to working at Steiner Film, he had worked for several years at Tansitor Electronics (now Vishay). An avid HAM Radio operator enthusiast, he was co-founder of the Southern Vermont Amerature Radio Club (SOVARC), and was currently serving as it's President, a position he held many times. He enjoyed talking with people throughout the world through his radio. A talented musician since his teens, he played many instruments including guitar, mandolin and was an accomplished banjo player. He absolutely loved playing and listening to Blue grass music. He performed with many bands throughout the years including; White Chapel Band (Mo Harrington), Alice's Homemade Jam and Wildwood. He will be remembered as a family man and a jokester.He leaves his wife Susan (Brooks) Gates who he married in November 2001, sons Randall Gates Jr. and Kate Farrell of Manchester, Aaron Gates and wife Makenzie of Wells and Eric Gates of Manchester, daughter Aimee Gates and Rusty Kelly of Manchester, sisters Susan Russell and husband Elwood of Maricopa, AZ, Janice Bushee and husband John of Pownal and Melinda Onorato and husband Pasquale of Williamstown, MA, former wife Kimberlie Pierson of Manchester, grandchildren Alex, Lily, Ian, Alyssa, Charles and Mikayla, as well as nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a brother Herbert Gates and sister Kathleeen Stevens. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services will be held on Wednesday July 17 at 4pm at the Hanson Walbridge & Shea Funeral Home.
