Mary Beth Shaughnessy

1956-2016 BENNINGTON Mary Beth Shaughnessy, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2016 at Suncoast Hospice Care Center surrounded by love. She was born in Bennington, VT on August 14, 1956 to William and Margaret (Peg) Shaughnessy. She earned her nursing degree from Castleton State College in 1977. Shortly after she relocated to Pinellas County, FL. Pediatrics was her passion and for many years she worked as a pediatric nurse and charge nurse at Suncoast Hospital, Largo, FL. She went on to be the nurse manager of the Krug Clinic, a multi specialty teaching clinic. She had immeasurable impact on physicians in training as well as on her patients and their families. For the last several years she has been a nursing supervisor at Florida Health Pinellas County. She loved to read, play golf, pet sit, and most of all spending time with friends and family. She was a very caring person and was always helping and mentoring along the way. As a woman of faith she was a very active member at Unity Church of Clearwater, where she worked in the book store, was ever present on service Saturdays, hosting musicians during emPower Music events, and bringing donuts. She is dearly missed by her 8 siblings, Susan Niles, April (David) Buxbaum, Dan (Paryse) Shaughnessy, Bill (Pam) Shaughnessy, David (Jude) Shaughnessy, Michael (Sue) Colliano, Leigh Anne (Jim) Cone, and Patrick Colliano; a multitude of nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews; close friends, Laura Vose, Carla Burton and Tanya Bakenhester; as well as many other friends and her church family. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 pm on October 1, 2016 at Unity Church of Clearwater, 2465 Nursery Road, Clearwater, FL 33764. All are welcome to attend this celebration wearing colors of happiness rather than of mourning.
