John Norris Hayes, 57, of 622 Hibbard Farm Road passed away Thursday, April 30. Born in Bennington, Vt. on May 14, 1957 he was a son of the late Mrs. Clara Elizabeth (Dutcher) Betit and the late Mr. Norris Hayes. John was the husband of Mrs. Brenda (Dwyer) Hayes having celebrated almost 37 wonderful years of marriage. He was a member of Sacred Heart St. Francis Church in Vermont and was an employee of Mack Molding for 33 years where he worked as a senior maintenance technician. John was a loving and devoted family man who had a very strong love for dogs and loved the Boston Red Sox and the New York Giants. In addition to his wife Brenda, he is survived by a daughter, Jennifer Woods and her husband, Mark, of Marshfield, Vt.; a son, Nathan Hayes and his wife, Vanessa, of Inman, S.C.; a sister, Beverly Horton of Rutland, Vt.; three brothers, Butch Hayes of Rutland, Vt., Michael Hayes of Bennington, Vt., and Tommy Hayes of Bennington, Vt.; and three grandchildren, Elizabeth Joan Woods, Sylas Hayes Woods, and Jonathan Thomas Hayes; and many, much loved nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his beloved dog, Emma. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by six siblings, Robert Hayes, Donald Hayes, Patricia Hayes Philpott, Sharon Hayes Mejia, Richard Hayes, and Robbi Hayes. FUNERAL NOTICE: A Celebration of his life service will be held at the Seawright Funeral Chapel at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 4, with Mr. Ernie Thigpen officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Spartanburg Humane Society, 150 Dexter Rd., Spartanburg, S.C. 29303. The family is at the home.
