MAY 1, 2008

It was 31 years ago today that Pat was taken from our midst in an auto accident on the top of Searsburg mountain. It was a day I will never forget and my first real exposure to grief. There is never an answer to "why?" and certainly no answer that satisfies when one is taken so young.

It took many years before I was able to be truly thankful for the friendship that I did have with Pat, however abbreviated. I hope that some of you have a memory of Pat to share that you're thankful for, I have many.

Love to all of you in his memory, Maureen

On May 1, sometime in the 80's I inadvertently made a repeat appointment with this sweet little old lady psychic. She kept asking me about the young man...she could 'see' a young man dancing around me! Suddenly I recalled Pat's death on this same day - maybe 7 or 8 years earlier? She became so excited and convinced that it truly was Pat because in death our souls celebrate and dance for joy!!! It was his anniversary!!!! For obvious reasons, this was always a great comfort to me when I thought of the world's loss of such a fantastic, vibrant person. If there is anyone from our class that I think of the most...it's Pat Shea. He's our angel!!!
