In Memory
Suddenly, on Sunday September 20, 2020, Rosemary Sweeney gained her wings and Heaven an Angel. Rosemary was a lifelong resident of Bucks County, and 1965 graduate of Bensalem High School, and received her Cosmetology license in 1966. She was born on April 24th 1947 to the late Francis & Betty Massaro (Keller). Rosemary was the loving wife of Martin J. Sweeney, Jr. Devoted mother of Michelle Cinque (Richard) and Michael Sweeney (April). She was a doting Grandmother to Veronica Crawford (Matthew), Bridgette Cinque and Ryan Sweeney. She was the Sister in law of Melanie (Sweeney) & Craig Speece. Aunt to Martin Speece (Natalie), and Christopher Speece (Lori). She was the BEST FRIEND of 69 years to Verna Bowman (Rose-Redd)
Rosemary and Martin met in 1963 at the HY-WY Pool in Bensalem. They were high school sweethearts, and after Marty's return from the Army, they were wed in May 1967. They celebrated 53 years of wedded bliss.
Rosemary was a very active Mother and loved volunteering throughout the Community. She stood alongside Christine Beck as a Co-leader of the Scottsville Church Brownie & Girl Scout Troop. She, Christine and the troop shared many memories of camping, crafts, day trips, and the never forgettable "Halloween Night". Although having 2 children of her own, Rosemary was called "Mom" by many friends who loved her as much as her own family did.
Rosemary served on the Lower Southampton Zoning board, Women's Auxiliary at The Hilltop AA, and was elected as Committee woman for many years. She loved greeting new families in Bucks County bringing around "The Welcome Wagon." She volunteered as a Teacher's Aide at Tawanka elementary school, all while working a Full-Time job at JC Penney.
However, her favorite job was Grandmom. She poured her heart and soul into hers. Veronica, Bridgette and Ryan were blessed beyond measure to have her. She read, baked, crafted, took trips, sang and played with them every second she could.
In the early 1990's after many misdiagnosis', Rosemary was finally able to put a name to her pain. Rheumatoid Arthritis. This disease crippled her, but never broke her Spirit (which is quite HUGE & FIERCE) for a woman of 4"11.
Rosemary left a big impact on her little Community of Trevose, and a HUGE void in the lives of her Family. We are grateful that God chose her for our family. We ask for continued prayers and support in the days and weeks to come. We invite family or friends to share pictures or to write a small post about how you knew her.
Family and friends are invited to share in Rosemary's Life Celebration on Friday September 25th, 2020 at the Dunn Givnish Funeral Home, 378 S Bellevue Ave, Langhorne, PA 19047. A Memorial Visitation will be held from 6:00-7:15 PM with her Life Celebration beginning at 7:15 PM.
