Gloria Miller Matthews

I taught elementary Science and gifted children for almost 20 years. Now I'm a beach bum near Emerald Isle and love it. I volunteer at the Pine Knoll Shores Aquarium and received an award for "dedication" this year!
So looking forward to this momentus occassion and thank the committee for such hard work and organzation.

My first kiss was in first grade. We were practicing for the musical show "Snow White"....I was a Sunbeam like the others who didn't have a main part. We were sitting in the hallway and Randy Byrd just leaned over and kissed me. He was a fox even back then.
In the 2nd grade...Mrs. Jean Creech...Scott Medlin pulled my ponytail all the time
3rd grade..Mrs. Vann-said the horse I'd drawn had a big "stero-pie-jitat"..Neta Lucas was bent over at bullentin board on valentine's day and Mrs. Vann said the lovely ruffled red panties she wore looked like a heart..
4th-Mrs. McLamb-gave great big hugs
5th-Mrs. Bailey-sent us to her house to get stuff and told us to eat us some cookies on the kitchen counter
6th-Mrs. Henderson-Orace Pollard found an error on my SS test which caused me to make a 99 instead of 100
7th-Mrs. Peacock-Jack W. Larry Stiles and I wrote a play about Abe Lincoln which was performed in Chapel.
8th-Mt Pete Morgan called me Mom to tell on me for talking during Chapel and I had to write 1,000 sentences.
High School-Ray Holmes in Mrs. Willis's ...said the first and last word of a French sentence and mumbled in between. Debbie Sanders and I were "tinkle pals"...we all had a crush on Mr. Lucas and was jealous when someone (was it Julia Ann?) fiainted and he carried her out. (Did I dream this?) The first time I ever saw a laundry shoot was at Nancy Levinson's house. Becky Bonds and I were planning a party with "rooster sandwiches"...Fun at Neta Lucas's Aunt Hortense little cabin and PJ.........Janet Tart was always the DD. Randy Byrd kissed me AGAIN in our Senior play and Gary Mitchell had a fit.
