he was good math teacher and a good man to every one in the community. Also would take the time to help you with math problems if he had the time..and he was good at helping with sports activities too-

Mr. Stephens, I thought, was a mathimatical genius. I hated Algebra; enough said. But, I was class pet (yes, he had class pets) that year, so I got away with quite a lot. He and Mrs. Lambert were responsible for getting the high school Dramatic's award for me my Junior year. I dearly loved Mr. Stephens and enjoyed every minute in that class. I just wish he had been a little harder on me, as he was on most of the other students. Lots of memories in that Class that I will never forget.

Though I had an interest in math before sitting under Mr. Stephens, his love and intensity for the subject solidified my feelings for it, inspiring me to go on toward an MS degree in Applied Mathematics at NCSU.  Thanks, Mr. Stephens.

P.S.  I hope there are still teachers out there with the same passion for their subject - and the sternness to demand the best from their students.   In some respects, Mr. Stephens was to math what a championship football coach is to football.
