Malcolm Cowan, 62, of Benton Harbor, passed away Monday, April 8, 2013 at his home.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, April 12, 2013 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Service, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Friends may visit from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Thursday, April 11, 2013 at the funeral home with Masonic Rites at 8:00 P.M. Memorials may be made to the St. Joseph Masonic Lodge 437. Malcolm was born September 25, 1950 in Larkhall, Scotland, to Malcolm & Catherine (Drummond) Cowan. He graduated from Benton Harbor High School. He served his Country in the United States Army and on April 23, 1976 he married Betty Harrison in Benton Harbor. Malcolm was a Lieutenant for the Benton Township Fire Department for many years. He was a member of the St. Joseph Masonic Lodge 437 and the Mishawaka Caledonia Kilty Band. In his spare time Malcolm enjoyed golfing, flying, riding his Harley, playing his bag pipes, and coaching his grandchildren's soccer team. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and will be dearly missed by all. 

Malcolm is survived by his wife Betty Cowan of Sodus; daughter Jacqueline (Mark) Demski of Eau Claire; son Malcolm (Jennifer) Cowan of St. Joseph; mother Catherine Cowan of Stevensville; five grandchildren Lillian, Malcolm, Lauren, Maisie, and Addison; brothers Colin (Karen) Cowan of Berrien Springs and Andrew Cowan of Stevensville; Malcolm was preceded in death by his father.

Malcolm was a great person & he will be greatly missed. I will always remember the Red fastback Mustang. Gail Fincher
