Jeffery Johnston

Jeffrey Robert Johnston was born at Lansing's Sparrow Hospital February 5, 1951 and died peacefully in his sleep December 3, 2025 at his home in Haslett, Michigan. He was 74. Jeff grew up in Benton Harbor, Michigan and graduated from Central Michigan University. He completed graduate coursework at Michigan State University. Jeff spent his entire professional career with the City of East Lansing and retired as Superintendent of the city's wastewater treatment facility. He was active in the Michigan Water Environment Association and in 2000 he received the prestigious Select Society of Sanitary Sludge Shovelers Award. Jeff enjoyed MSU sports, biking, cooking, traveling the world, and music festivals. He liked to snowshoe in the winter and summer treks in and around parks and nature centers in the Lansing area. He is survived by Robin Parsons (nephew), Scott Parsons (nephew), Jacklyn Parsons (niece) and many friends. Jeff donated his body to Michigan State University's Medical School. You are invited to a Celebration of Lfe at the Blue Grill in Haslett, Michigan on March 11, 2026 with pizza and refreshments beginning at 4:30 PM, followed by a time of shared memories and tributes at 5:30PM.
