Gill, Mary Ann MADISON - Mary Ann Gill, age 58, died of complications of ovarian cancer at Meriter Hospital on Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2006, with her husband and daughters at her side. She was born March 7, 1948, in Worcester, Massachusetts the daughter of Francis and Olive Tolka. She was a graduate of Balwin Wallace College in Berea, Ohio and the University of Wisconsin Law School. She met her husband, George Gill, at a summer theater in New Jersey and they were married in New York City in 1977. She and her husband lived in New York for over ten years where they pursued their interests in the theater. Their daughter, Alexis Olivia, was born in New York in 1978. In 1981, they moved to Madison. Daughter, Chelsea Hilaire, was born in 1986, shortly before Mary Ann graduated from law school. Diabetes and heart problems prevented her from practicing law full time, but for many years she taught part-time law classes to adults at MATC. She was also an accomplished artist who worked in many mediums.
