I seem to recall 2 pranks too. But still not sure what W.A.D might be.

W.A.D. wasn't that for Worrkmen's Appreciation Day? Since they were doing construction somewhere all 3 years we were there.  Didn't we give donuts to workers? And girls changed into pants(jeans) during the presentation during our morning break.  How wild were we, wearing pants during a school event.

Thought we put birds in the gym and fish in the pool but those days are pretty foggy now. all is well here in Vegas, anyone coming out give me a call.

Now I remember WAD.  I work in a high school and whenever students complain about dress code I mention the fact that I was never able to wear pants to school not even in college.  Of course today I wish they would wear their pants instead of hanging them around the top of their legs.  I see more boxers than I would like everyday.

Hi All,

I remember the posters that seemed sinister like "WAD is coming..." , Watch out for WAD" and the  a countdown - "Only 3 days until WAD!" and so on. Then we dressed up like workmen and rebelliously went outside and ate lunch with the crew and the foreman was such a peach he made a speech!  Said what a great group of kids we were, having watched us everyday for 3 years!

Hi All,

Oh yeah Carol! Now I remember riding the bikes and tearing down the tents! OMG!  And I think we brought them donuts (maybe Spudnuts?)  at their break and then we went out again for lunch? K.

These pranks seem so tame compared to what some of the kids do today.  One of our local high schools had all the locks on the exterior doors glued shut.

Sad to say but kids go to jail now for school pranks. Some kid in NC let an animal into the school and he went to jail for all sorts of charges connected with the school plus some kind of cruelty to animal charges.

Regarding pranks - some of the senior girls spent the night at Gail Bennett's house (I'm pretty sure...) and rode bikes to school the next day.  (I brought everyone's books and purses in a car - not sure whose it was!)  As for tearing down the tents it wasn't the girls, it was actually the TEACHERS led by Howard Dulmage.  I found this out a couple years later at a teachers party (I was working at BHS then).  A little (OK, a lot), of alcohol loosened their lips and Howard and a couple others 'fessed' up to going over to the high school in the middle of the night in his VW bug and roaring around the track knocking over tents and whatever else they came across.  I might add, they showed absolutely NO remorse either!!!!

Guess those tents came down twice because they were up when we arrived on our bikes that morning.  I remember running away from all of the mayhem but I think we missed tearing down one of them. Those sure were the good old days back when my knees worked the way they should!

Everyone remembers the Friday night, after the football game dances but do you remember the names of any of the bands?  Do you remember “the Challengers”  “Derry Culver” or “the Johnny Joe Four”?  The names were provided by John Goodworth, thanks John!

Larry I thought nobody was going to this message site anymore.  You see how long between entries.  I am probably the last person around not on facebook.  I remember one band but not a name.  Had a boy from the school (maybe from your class) as the singer.  Last school dance that I chaperoned, did not recognize one song played by the DJ.  Guess that means I am really getting old although I did teach some younger teachers to cha cha so they could enter the cha cha contest.

All you Browns fans out there, please support your new player from Mississippi, Brandon Jackson.  He is a graduate of one of the high schools that I have worked at and he is a fine young man deserving of your support.  Not sure how many of the games we will get around here but we try to watch him when we can.  Hope he does a great job for your team like he has done for his others.  He is a down to earth young man who is well thought of in our area.  Just last year he had a day and parade in his honor and it was well attended.

With some interest I noticed that BHS will be renamed Berea-Midpark.  I can't wait to see the school jackets and paraphenalia with the new "B-M" High School emblazoned.  Good grief, didn't anybody think of this abbreviation before hand.

Funny thing about this site. Its readers are quite random. Bet more people saw your post, Jane, than you think. Glad you had a good time. Was not able to attend but heard it was very enjoyable.

Made it to the closing ceremony for Berea High this past week-end. Got my " Once a Brave, Always a Brave t-shirt."smiley  (It will be Berea-Midpark High School, theTitans, colors orange and blue, from now on)  2013 senior social studies kids put together PowerPoint presentations for each decade.  (BHS opened in 1882 and moved to the present building in 1929). Barb Wismar and I reminisced over Student Night. (The Wizard of Id-Mr. Croy was the King and she was the Thing in the Pot).  The band playing the fight song, the Alma Mater and ringing the Final Bell brought out a lot of Kleenex  And that was the MEN! ha   Can't imagine driving by and seeing Berea-Midpark on the front of that school...  Sad day.
