Scott Lawrence Ciepluch, 53, of Atlanta, died Thursday, April 6, 2006. He was a graduate of Berea High School and went on to graduate from Miami University in Oxford, OH. During his college years, he was drafted and served in the U.S. Army National Guard. Following college, he began a twenty-nine year career with The Gates Rubber Company. This career took him and his family from Lakewood, OH to Plymouth, MI, Fullerton, CA, and finally in 1993 to Atlanta, GA. After settling in Atlanta, he served as an Elder and Sunday school teacher at Mt. Vernon Presbyterian Church, as a Cub Scout leader, and also coached youth baseball.
He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Ciepluch and a sister, Susan Affeldt. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Corwin Ciepluch of Atlanta; three sons, Peter David Ciepluch, Todd Garrett Ciepluch, and Scott Connor Ciepluch; and his mother, Dolores Ciepluch of Fort Myers, FL. Memorial contributions may be made to the youth ministries of either Mt. Vernon Presbyterian Church, 471 Mt. Vernon Hwy, NE, Atlanta, GA 30328 or St. Luke's Presbyterian Church, 1978 Mt. Vernon Road, Dunwoody, GA 30338. A memorial service will be held at 2 o'clock on Wednesday, April 12, at St. Luke's Presbyterian Church. Arrangements by H.M. I had the biggest crush on Scott in our junior and senior year. This was a one way crush, he wasn't the slight bit interested in me. He was a good sport though and was my date for Holly Hop. I am sorry we lost Scott.
