Ronnie Sours

Ronnie Lee Sours, 73, of Winchester, VA, passed away on Sunday, December 31, 2023, at his home.

Ronnie was born in 1950 in Clarke County, VA, the son of the late Clark and Ruth Sours. He earned his Associate’s Degree in Business Management from Lord Fairfax Community College. Ronnie served our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War in the Green Berets. He retired after 41 years of service as a lineman for Verizon. Ronnie was an avid hunter and fisherman who enjoyed traveling with family and friends on hunting and fishing trips. He was a loving husband and father who has now rejoined his beautiful wife, Helen.

Ronnie married Helen Wentz on December 27, 1994, in Winchester, VA, she preceded him in death in April of 2020.

He is survived by his son, Yancey Sours, stepsons, Jeffrey Longerbeam (Wendy), Kirk Edwards (Melissa); grandchildren, Amber Edwards, Amanda Powell (Doug), Hope Longerbeam, Justin Longerbeam and great-grandchildren, Ava Powell, Elena Powell, Douglas Powell, and Riley Baker.
Ronnie is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his daughter, Julie Crosby and 3 brothers, Dale, Nelson, and Wayne Sours.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Ronnie on Saturday, January 6, 2023, at 2pm at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel. A gathering of family and friends will follow the service at Ronnie’s home.

I give thanks for the good times and fun we had at Boyce Elementary School and Clarke County High School in the class of 1968. May you enjoy God's Kingdom. You are in a wonderful place. May God be with the family. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
