Ken Persin

     I had the opportunity to play music with Mike when Mark Turner and John Raia asked me to play trombone with their rock band.  Mike was a serious and very talented trumpet player always striving to be the best.  My first job with the band was on a yacht on Lake Michigan and Mike was very supportive always giving me helpful suggestions to improve my solos.  We won the "Battle of the Bands" in Morton Grove  and also performed at homecoming dances and other venues.  Mike and I would practice in his basement always working to improve our music skills.  I left the band to play basketball but I will never forget the exciting and creative time I had with Mike and the rest of the guys.
