I was never close with Navid, but I do remember him.  He was killed in his home in Bethesda in November of 1992 - he was 19 years old.  No one was ever arrested or charged in the crime.  Rest in peace, Navid.

Thanks for sharing what you know Josh! That is what I thought I heard about his death yrs ago, so incredibly horrible that his killer wasn't found!!

I was horribly shaken by Navid's death when it happenned and am still greatly saddened by it.  We were not close friends but I knew him well enough to think highly of him.  He's just the sort of person who'd be great to catch up with now.  My thoughts were with his friends and family then, and again now.

I was good friends with him in middle school as we were both new and we lived in the same apartment building in Bethesda along with Tim. Tim and Navid had fun making fun of me constantly!  Soon enough we were headed for highschool and he went to WJ and later, returned to BCC. He was very smart and did well in school, but was pretty dedicated to Taek won doe. We all went to UMD where  he seemed pretty happy. The last time I saw him I was at Hornbake (library)  in the computer lab  pulling an all nighter/typing a paper when he snuck up behind me (usual Navid teasing mode) and said "it would be better if you typed with both hands and actually stayed awake!" He then snickered and ran away. I remember thinking to myself, does this kid ever grow up?

When he died, I remember thinking about his Mom who was just a mess as anyone would imagine. My parents were upset too and wouldn't let me attend the funeral because they were freaked out that someone as young as Navid could be killed in his own home.  He was supposed to be a witness in a trial of some sort I think that is why someone killed him. It was a professional hit.

His mom had worked for several years at the Hecht company and when I saw her there, she would burst out in tears. He was dating Shereen (spelling) and they had just returned from a Bahai convention. She went on to attend GWU.

I am pretty sure Navid was going to be either a dentist or an eye doctor. He was close to Tim and Dave Blazina and they were especially sad after his death. He was a black belt in Taek Won do. He was the youngest of 3 or 4 boys. I miss him as do all his friends and family.

I met Navid at 15 and transferred to BCC my senior year to spend it with him. He was the love of my life and I only wish I could have said goodbye. I spoke to him that morning and although it seems like a lifetime ago, it still brings tears to my eyes. I have soo many wonderful memories with him and I know I was lucky to have him in my life.  I think the worst part was that there was never any justice or anyone held accountable.  That incident changed my life in so many ways. I grew up overnight, and now that I have children of my own, it reminds me that regardless of whether you come from a good family with good values or live in a good neighborhood, anything can happen anywhere at any time, and picking the wrong friends can have deadly consequences.

I  didn’t keep in touch with any of Navid’s family or friends except for his mom on occasion; She died in Iran a couple years ago, and she suffered a lot, so I feel that she is at peace and hopefully with him.

I also still hope that someone will come forward and help put away the people responsible for killing him for nothing.
