Alan Baddia Rashid

DECEMBER 8, 1955 – JUNE 16, 2022

Alan Baddia Rashid, 66, of Fairfax, Virginia died peacefully on Thursday, June 16, 2022 surrounded by family. He had such a will to live, he fought till the end.

Alan was born on December 8, 1955 in Washington, D.C. to Baddia and Yvonne Rashid (predeceased).

After graduating from Walt Whitman High School in 1973, he went on to study political and computer science at Georgetown University and American University.

After graduation, Alan landed his job as a programmer and analyst for Planning Research Corporation, kicking off a 40 year career as a software engineer with Logican, Inc., SAIC, and Leidos.

Alan was a true philanthropist. He gave generously to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Every year at Christmas, Alan would be a Secret Santa to many children by picking from the Angel Tree to fulfill their Holiday wishes. He had such a love for family. Alan took pictures, managed the family directory, and created the mailing list for the Rashid Family Reunion.

Alan is survived by his siblings Stephen Rashid (Mary), Paul Rashid, Mark Rashid, Joanne Baker (Steve), and Andrew Rashid (Tatiana). His nephews and nieces, Sam Rashid, Julia Rashid, Jake Rashid, Lucas Rashid, and Yvonne Baker as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins , and his beloved dog, Spock.

Visitation will be at Joseph Gawler’s Funeral Home 5130 Wisconsin Ave NW, Washington, DC on Wednesday, June 22, 2022 from 7:00pm to 9:00 pm. A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Church 7500 Pearl St. Bethesda, MD at 1 pm with a burial to follow immediately at Gate of Heaven Cemetery 13801 Georgia Ave, Silver Spring, MD.
