Rebecca Louise Johnson Sandt, 65, of Big Stone Gap, passed away Monday afternoon (Jan. 31, 2011) at Bristol Regional Medical Center. Rebecca graduated from Powell Valley High School in 1963 and Emory and Henry College in 1967, which led to a full 33 year teaching career in the Wise County School system. She was an avid member of the Trinity United Methodist Church and spent her free time serving others as a volunteer at the Southwest Virginia Regional Cancer Center. Remaining with her memory are her husband Howard, son Michael and wife Lori, brother Fred Johnson and wife Judy, along with many extended family members and loving friends.
