A Reunion Update – August 16

The BSHS Class of '65 reunion committee recently met to discuss our plans – particularly in light of the current surge in covid infections nationally, and, in particular, in Yellowstone County, where the infection rate is currently at the highest level, Red.

We felt strongly that we wanted to ensure the safety, health, and well-being of our classmates as much as possible. In light of recommendations recently issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention regarding safety for vaccinated people (which we assume we all are), and after much discussion, we decided to alter the plans for the weekend by moving as many of the events as possible outdoors, where the environment would be safer.

Moreover, when events will necessarily be indoors, as the CDC recommends, we agreed to ask people to bring and wear masks. Additionally, we will provide masks and hand sanitizer. Further, as just noted, we expect everyone attending to be vaccinated. If you are not vaccinated, we will understand why you are not with us; we appreciate your willingness to protect the health of yourself and your friends by not attending. To the folks who will not be with us, we truly wish you good health! And hope we can get together in 2025.

   The revised schedule:

  • We will meet Friday night, 5:00-11:00 pm at DanWalt Gardens, 720 Washington Street as planned.
  • We will also have the memorial service at the First Methodist Church, 2800 4th Avenue North, Saturday morning, 10:00 am as planned.
  • We will not have a lunch reception following the memorial service.
  • All Saturday evening activities at the DoubleTree/Petroleum Club have been cancelled.
  • In lieu of the DoubleTree event, we will have an outdoor get-together at the Zimmerman Shelter (the old fire station) at Pioneer Park, 1801 Virginia Lane (5th Street West) from 4:00 – 8:00 pm Saturday.

For the Pioneer Park event, sandwiches and other picnic food, as well as non-alcoholic beverages, will be provided. Please bring your own adult beverages, lawn chairs, blankets, bug spray, suntan lotion, big hats, frisbees, butterfly nets, and whatever else you may need (including masks).

Because our events will be curtailed, everyone who registered will be provided a partial refund of the registration cost (the amount to be determined closer to reunion time). Anyone who has registered but has decided not to attend should contact us for a full refund.
