Sad to hear about this loss of a classmate with memories back to our first day at McKinley School.

I used to see Kathy's very pointed, often funny, and typically spot-on posts on Facebook.  If I'm not mistaken, she was even banned for a while. It spoke volumes about her willingness to say what was on her mind in no uncertain terms.  It dawned on me recently that I hadn't seen a post for a long time, and now we won't see them ever again.  Sad to have the world lose such a character.

I was so sad to hear of Kathy's death. Like many of you, our time dates back to McKinley and carried on through high school. I always admired her ability to share her thoughts on a topic, whether controversial or not. She was outspoken, again I admired her tenacity!  I fondly remember our times together in high school, her sense of humor, and the genuineness of her friendship to me and many others. I was saddened to hear of her prolonged battle with breast cancer and the associated pain and suffering. Rest in peace, dear Kathy.

Soon after we graduated--maybe as a graduation present--I gave Kathy monogrammed stationery:  a copper KEG down the left side of a cream-colored deckled-edge sheet with matching envelopes.  Somewhere I still have letters from her on that paper.  I can't decide if finding them will make me feel better or worse. Kathy was one-of-kind:  observant, direct, funny but not unkind.

I never knew Kathy that well in high school but reconnected with her in Missoula at a coffee shop that I frequented. She was a barreista (sp). We really talked about her life. She had been a teacher--English I believe. She was thinking about coming to our 50th. The coffee shop closed and she left town I think. That has been over 10 years ago. And from what people have been saying what she was like in high school, she hadn't change. She was a delight to talk to. I wish I had known her better.

Kathy Gibb was forever her own person. Some of us were at an early age. As we age we have become even more so. Having bonded at our fiftieth I was reassured that Kathy would lead and represent many. She was funny and bright. I feel honored to have reunited with her. I loved her. May the Lord bless her soul.
