Tom died May 7, 2005 from acute lung disease. He lived in Hardin, MT where he ran several businesses over the years, but the last was Dandy Tom's Ice Cream and Sandwich Shop (and catering). Ill health forced him to retire 3 years before his death. In Hardin they called him "Dandy Tom" and he was a beloved local.
