Mary Anne Hager Mary Anne Hager passed away at the age of 53, on Feb. 24, 2000. Mary Anne was born July 15, 1947, to Otis and Hazel Hager in Billings. She attended Billings public schools and in 1969, graduated summa cum laude from St. Olaf College in Minnesota. After graduation, she traveled extensively and then went into social work in Colorado. When she returned to Montana, she joined the family business, Hager Brothers Eggs until 1988. Since then, she worked for US West Communications and most recently was secretary for Unity Church of Christianity. Mary Anne was preceded in death by her parents, Otis and Hazel, and brothers Tom, Van and Dick. Survivors include her niece and nephew, Gretchen Straessle and Van Hager, and sisters-in-law, Connye Hartman and Donna Dinsmore. She will also be missed by numerous close friends. Memorial services will be held at Unity Church of Christianity on Tuesday, Feb. 29, at 1 p.m. Memorials may be sent to Help for Homeless Pets, P.O. Box 1282, Billings, MT, 59103 or the Mary Anne Peace Garden Fund through Unity Church of Christianity, 9 14th St. West, Billings, MT 59102.

Janet Hudgens (Efron)

Thank you for sharing this obituary.  Mary Ann was my friend and neighbor--giving me a ride to school every day in high school.  She was a wonderful friend, and a character too.  I remember she had diabetes like my younger brother--not an easy thing to have as a "child."  But I bonded with her around that as well.  Thanks again for sharing.         Janet

Mary Anne was so fun. I can still hear her laugh. I love reading about your memories of her, Janet. Mary Anne ended up living across the street from my mom on Avenue F. She lived there about five years at the end of her life. I loved it because when I went home I got to see her. She made friends with my mom as most of our friends did. They added a lot to my each other's days. One time she found my mom's lost cat. Mary Anne was a good neighbor and friend. I miss her.
