Mikel T. Ives passed over to join his savior, and his dad, on Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2014, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born Dec. 20, 1946, in Cody, Wyo. In 1951, the family moved to Billings, where he resided until his passing. In 1972, a highlight of his life was the birth of his son, Jason.

He worked at Triple I Construction with his dad and brother for most of his working career. He was a true artist. Among his many talents was wood, metal, and leather works. This included building airplanes, cars, choppers, boats, furniture, and many others all done with perfection and love.

At 48 years old, he earned an associate degree at the college of technology. In his mind, his greatest accomplishment was the service to his Heavenly Father, which included his many years of Temple Service, a fulltime mission that he shared with his eternal partner Donna, and many years of administrative callings. Mikel will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Donna; son, Jason; his mother; sister, Mickey (Lee) Black, brothers Pat (Kathy); and 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. for Mikel on Monday, Sept. 29, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Broadmoor Stake Center located at 1640 Broadmoor Drive in Billings. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday Sept. 28, at Smith Funeral Chapel Downtown, as well as one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will follow at Terrace Gardens Cemetery. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family by visiting smithfuneralchapels.com. Memorial may be made in Mikel’s name to Montana Wounded Warriors100 Cooperative Way, Suite 100 Kalispell, MT 59901-2386
