In Memory

Robyn Leischner (Geffre)

Robyn Leischner (Geffre)

this morning, notification was received that our classmate and friend,

Robyn Leischner Geffre has passed.

Robyn Geffre passed away on Monday, June 14th surrounded by her loving family. She fought pancreatic cancer stoically for nearly four years. Through her battle, she still found the energy to enjoy her friends, family and especially her grandkids. A few of her favorite places were Flathead Lake, where she taught her grandkids how to make cherry pies. Naples, FL where she enjoyed relaxing next to the ocean in her retirement years. And Mexico where she escaped with Bob after a grueling tax season.

Robyn was born to Clarence “CT” and Bernice Leischner on November 23rd, 1946. She had two sisters, Sandi and Barbara and a brother, Billy. When she was young, she would play with friends in between her dad’s plumbing shop and the house making mud pies, decorated elaborately with flowers and leaves and pretend “drive” in the parked plumbing trucks.

She and her sisters all had “dress-up” clothes designed from old curtains & clothes purchased at rummage sales by her cousin. They walked or rode their bikes everywhere. They lived near fields where they would make forts along with many of the neighborhood kids. In the summer, they would have KoolAid stands at the end of the driveway and would literally stop the city bus and cars but, it never helped their profits much.

Robyn attended Highland Elementary, Lincoln Jr. High and graduated from Billings Senior where she took part in the choral program. It was during the high school years that cherished friendships were made. The highlights were “burning the point,” Legion baseball games, 10-speed bikes, the Frost Top, Lake Elmo, and hanging out at Pioneer Park. Many of those friendships remain today.

Her family and friends meant everything to her, and she gave them everything she had. She was a devoted daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, friend and most of all companion and Mother. Her unconditional love for Bob, her boys Kevin, Kyle (Gloria) and Kory (Reagan) and her very special "loves", Matt, Addie, Renzy and Swensyn was shown to them with every ounce of her being.

She was good at what she put her mind to; she was feisty and would not give up without a fight; she knew human nature and she knew her own mind; she knew what was right, and if she wasn't always right, she was never in doubt. We can say with confidence she fought the good fight and kept the faith. She stayed positive and fought hard to the end. Her spirit, optimism, and kind heart will be missed by so many but never forgotten.

"This is the day the Lord has made. Rejoice and be glad in it." (Psalm 118:24) was Robyn's verse of choice on any given day.

A “Celebration of Life” will be held Wednesday, September 15th at Highlands Golf Club starting at 3pm with an oration honoring Robyn followed by the “Celebration” from 3:30 - 5pm.

Robyn's passing is such sad news, but also comforting to know her pain is over.  She was so strong and determined and fought so hard.  Her grace and positive attitude should be an inspiration to us all.  She will be missed by so many.  Her family and friends were the most important things in her life and they were all there for her to the end.  We will miss you, Robyn.

It is very sad indeed. I just found out a short while ago that Robyn and I were second cousins and I did not have a chance to share with her. My grandmother and her grandfather were siblings. Rest in peace Robyn! God speed.

Such wonderfully memories I have of Robyn from grade school through high school. She had such a generous spirit and was kind to many, including my sister Kathy. Nasty disease and I am relieved she is no longer suffering. Thx to all of you who were with her to the end. Prayers of comfort for family and dear friends

Carol, Susan, Kim, and Cindy were able to spend lots of time with Robyn the week prior to her death. She was in good spirits and able to visit. With some effort, she went outside to make sure we planted certain flowers where she wanted them  She even pulled a few weeds. With Bob's help, we completed her gardens. Robyn always had a plan. She knew her mind  That's how it was. We will miss her terribly.

The BSH 50th class reunion gave Robyn and me a new connection. She told me at the reunion that her grandchildren attended Jackson Hole high school with mine but didn’t know if they knew each other. When I relayed her grandson Matt Williams’ name to my granddaughters, they lit up telling me he was one of their best friends. They were in sports together. I got to meet Matt and Robyn’s son on one of my visits to Jackson and I had a special joy in seeing Matt’s achievements reported in the Jackson newspaper. Her son’s family has moved from Jackson and I had the pleasure of meeting Robyn’s daughter-in-law when we bumped into each other in Costco a while back. Great family. Robyn gave everyone a special reason to miss her. Just sorry we have to miss her already.

So sorry to hear about Robyn. She was such a delightful person and someone who was so strong to live as long as she did with her cancer.

Robyn was always open to new friendships.  She actually "saw" each individual and made room for them in her life.  What a fun person to know.
