POLSON - Timothy John Mixon, 53, of Polson, passed away at his home from natural causes on Tuesday, April 3, 2001.

Tim was born Nov. 7, 1947, to Phares "Pete" and Muriel Mixon in Gainesville, Fla. Tim was a decorated veteran, sergeant first class, having received four Bronze Stars for valor, two Purple Hearts, medals and commendations for contribution of honorable service.

Tim received his bachelor's degree in psychology, as well as a master's degree in guidance and counseling from the University of Montana. He was a dedicated advocate for positive social change in a number of arenas including the Big Brothers and Sisters organization and the Montana Job Service, which eventually brought Tim and his family to Polson.

Tim Mixon married Wilma Hackman of Missoula in 1986. Together, they owned and operated Cantina La Cocina Restaurant in Victor. Together they have one daughter, Celestia Diane Mixon, 13.

Tim loved the hospitality industry, worked in it to his extraordinary credit, enjoyed the dining experience, fine wines, entertainment and friends. Tim was a fun-loving, enthusiastic, bright and sensitive individual. His good nature and caring will be sorely missed by the multitude of lifelong friends he acquired over the years.

Timothy was a peace activist, caregiver, an eternal optimist, a friend indeed, a loveable, jovial human being, a motor head and a very cool dude.
