Q: I will be driving to New Orleans. How much is the parking at Wyndham Hotel?

A: Wyndham Hotel provides valet parking for a nightly rate of $40 plus taxes. Self-parking is $30 per day at Caesars Casino. Caesars Rewards members may be eligible for free parking depending on their membership level. Additionally, we are continuing to work with local parking vendors in hopes of securing a less expensive alternative for parking. Stay tuned.

Q: Since I am not driving to New Orleans, should I rent a car when I get there?

A: No, renting a car in New Orleans is unnecessary. The parking fees and narrow streets in the French Quarter make driving more of a headache and financial burden. It is a very walkable city, with many shops and restaurants throughout the French Quarter. The trolleys run daily until midnight and cost about $2.00 per day. Uber, Lyft, and pedicabs are also available.

Q: Will transportation be provided for the various family reunion activities?

A: Here is a listing of the family reunion activities and available transportation:

• Thursday, June 26^th: Happy Hour @ Mr. Ed’s Southern Creole Kitchen - The restaurant is next door to the Wyndham Hotel, so no transportation is needed.
• Friday, June 27^th: Riverboat Cruise/Banquet @ Creole Queen – We will board the Creole Queen at Spanish Plaza Wharf, located behind The Outlet Riverwalk Collections Mall. It is roughly a 10-12 minute walk from the hotel to the Wharf. Most family members will walk. However, the trolley, Uber, Lyft, and pedicabs are available. No transportation will be provided.
• Saturday, June 28^th:  Family Picnic @ City Park – We will board a shuttle in front of Wyndham Hotel. Transportation will be provided to registered family members at no additional cost to and from City Park.

Q: How far is Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY) from the Wyndham Hotel?

A: The distance between the airport and Wyndham Hotel is approximately 13 miles and should take 20 minutes by car.

Q: Does the Wyndham Hotel or the airport offer a shuttle service to and from the hotel?

A: No, the hotel does not offer a shuttle service. The airport will provide shuttle services for a group of 10 or more traveling together. However, a taxi is the best and least expensive option from the airport to the hotel. The current rate is $36.00 for two people and $15 per person for groups of 3 or more. Credit cards are accepted. Ground transportation is on Level 1 near baggage claim.

Traveling by Train

Q: Can I take the train from Birmingham to New Orleans?

A: Yes, you can ride the train from Birmingham to New Orleans. Amtrak offers one set time for trips to and from New Orleans. Amtrak departs Birmingham daily at 1:00 PM CST and arrives in New Orleans at 9:00 PM CST. Amtrack departs New Orleans daily at 9:15 AM CST and arrives in Birmingham at 5:15 PM CST. It is roughly an 8-hour train ride that makes several stops in between.

A: Currently, a roundtrip ticket from Birmingham to New Orleans is $64.00.

A: The distance between the train station and Wyndham Hotel is approximately 1.5 miles and should take 5-10 minutes by car or taxi.
