My remembrance of Amelia was that of a quiet soft spoken and humble person. When the rest of us cut up and cracked jokes, Amelia would just smile in amusement. I always knew there was something vey special about Amelia that would manifest itself as she grew into adulthood. She graduated from Wenonah High School and went on to earn her BA degree in Nursing. She was employed At Lloyd Noland Hospital when she departed this life. Amelia was greatly mourned by her family, her community and by the citizens of Birmingham as her life was senselessly taken one night while leaving work by an unknown assailant. I often think about how much her children must have missed their mother, and how such a gentle person left this world so soon.  I take this opportunity to pay tribute to this gentle soul:  I know that God received you home with open arms.
