Laween Tyner (White)

White, Laween, - 72, of Galloway, passed away on March 18, 2023. Laween was born on October 31, 1950 to Annie Ruth and Mack Tyner in Birmingham, Alabama. She graduated from Wenonah Highschool in 1968. During her high school years she enjoyed being a Cheerleader and Drum Majorette. Soon after graduating she moved to Atlantic City, NJ where she met and married Samuel G. Hoskins in 1971. On February 8, 1972 they welcomed their only child together, Samuel M. Hoskins. As a young adult, LaWeen worked at the Children's Seashore House and Atlantic City Medical Center as an Administrative Assistant.

On January 17, 1980 she married Charles White. They welcomed their only daughter, Katrina J. White, into the world on October 3, 1982. LaWeen and Charles lived and raised their family in Pleasantville, NJ. They were both actively involved in the Church and community. They attended Grace Tabernacle, Shiloh Temple and Refuge Church of God in Christ. LaWeen was affectionately known as "Nana White" to all who attended her kind and loving daycare. In addition to providing daycare to local children, she also was a Foster Mother to medically fragile children who were placed in her care by the Division of Youth and Family Services; all were welcome at Gladstone Avenue! She often opened her home to all who were in need, be it for advice, food, clothes, shelter, a laugh or just a sympathetic ear to listen. She was always available to anyone in need. A fierce protector of family and friends

She had a bubbly personality and a true passion for fellowship. LaWeen closed her daycare and began working at the Pleasantville Board of Education in 1999. As a Secretary, she worked hard to maintain the needs of administrative staff and performed her duties throughout her fourteen years of service. LaWeen set an example of dedication to principle which was an inspiration to her fellow employees, parents and students alike. She retired from the Board of Education on October 1, 2013. On March 18, 2023, LaWeen gained her wings and was called home to be with her Lord and Savior.
