FAIRBANKS, WILBUR L., 55, of Birmingham (Roosevelt City) died Thursday, September 11, 2008. He was baptized at an early age, attending the 1st Baptist Church of Roosevelt. He attended schools in the Jefferson County School system including Wenonah High School where he was a member of the graduating class of 1971. After spending several years in Job Corps, Wilbur returned to Birmingham where he began attending the University of Alabama (Birmingham) in pursuit of higher education. He later met, fell in love, and married Mary Ann Lacey of Calera, AL, who preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death are father Willie L. Fairbanks; sister Edith F. McCray, and brother Donald B. Fairbanks. Wilbur leaves to cherish his life: mothers Mabel Brown and Ann Fairbanks; two sons, Lloyd Tyler and Timothy Ian (both of Calera, AL); two granddaughters; four brothers, Grayling L. (West Germany); Pastor Kenneth L. (Sheila) (Greensboro, NC); Pastor Whayman L. (Sharron) and Gregory W. both of Birmingham; fiancée Rhonda Caldwell (Birmingham); and several uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and many loved ones. Viewing will be Friday, September 19, 2008 from 3-8 pm at the chapel. Home going celebration will be Saturday, September 20, 2008 at 11am at Antioch Missionary Baptist 1829 16th Way N, Bessemer 425-6741. Interment at Highland Memorial Gardens. It has been a privilege to serve the Fairbanks Family.
