John Howard Henderson, 55, died on September 5, 2017 in Fargo, North Dakota after a long battle with cancer. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 9, at Boulger Funeral Home in Fargo. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
John was born on August 9, 1962 in Covina, California to Howard and Catherine Henderson. He grew up Bismarck, ND and graduated from Century High School. He graduated college from Minnesota State University Moorhead with a degree in special education in 1985. John spent his career working in mental health services helping individuals with developmental disabilities. Since 2006 he worked at Habilitative Services Inc. in Moorhead, Minnesota.
John was a baseball fan, record lover, collector of comic books and sports memorabilia and a devoted friend and brother. Throughout his long battle with cancer he remained dedicated in his work and in his will to continue living his life to the fullest. He was a brave, iron-willed and always optimistic person, even through his final days.
John is survived by his sisters Helen (Lowell) Tiede, Redmond, WA; Nancy (Ernest) Fyre, Portland, ND; Mary (Frank) Litaker, Minneapolis, MN; and Barbara (Joseph) Ziebert, Milwaukee, WI; his brother-in-law John (Leah) Clemedtsen, Horace, ND; his best friend Paul (Ruth) Kohler, and many nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his father Howard in 1988, his sister Margaret Clemedtsen in 2006, and his mother Catherine in 2014.
The family would especially like to thank the staffs of Roger Maris Cancer Center and Bethany Retirement Living on 42nd Street for their excellent, attentive treatment and care.
