I remember Chris smiling at me when I was feeling down a couple of times - never said an unkind word to me. I'm sad to hear he's gone.

Elain is correct. It was an accidental shooting.

Wow...Thanks for the update. I never knew. I remember a lot about Chris..possibly because we went to the same school together since I think around the 1st grade. Maybe even Kindergarten. I was very much in my own shell in Kindergarten though.
Chris was always nice to me and was always great to laugh and joke with. I am sorry to hear that he is no longer with us.

When I first moved here in the 6th grade, Mrs. Nacheff's class it was very hard for me to find any friends and Chris Vogler was about the only one that hung out with me and even came over to the house once in a while. (Sammy Gianni was the first) after that we always were friends. As I got older I became friends with James and Mike Vogler through baseball, and Chris was their cousin so we kept in touch. He was a good friend, I think some thought he was wild, but he wasn't just a little shy. I'm sorry he's not here to attend the reunion.

I grew up not too far from Chris out in Pingree and we rode the same bus (Mrs. Jackson's #17) throughout our school years. When we were younger, Chris, Jimmy Ramos, and I used to run around and get into trouble together. More often than not, Chris took the blame for Jimmy and me. We had our share of fights in the back of the bus, but we also had a lot of fun. I think Chris had a bit of a reputation as a trouble-maker that he really didn't deserve. Chris was actually quite shy, very sensitive, and he had really good manners - he was the only child I can remember who always said, "Yes ma'am" or "No sir" when talking to adults. Chris was also the first one to volunteer for something that the rest of us wouldn't do - he went in through an open window to get Jimmy's football from a locked classroom in 6th grade and took full responsibility (and punishment) when he was caught. There were many times in the summer when we were hesitant to swim across the river, jump our motorcycles over something, or do some other crazy thing that boys do when they're young and foolish, yet Chris was always the first to step up and say, "I'll try it" (and he almost always succeeded). Chris could always sense when someone felt bad. Many times he'd ask me what was wrong or if I was alright and he was always willing to listen. Years after we stopped running around together, we were riding the bus home during a particularly bad winter and the bus got stuck in a snow drift (I believe it was in our sophomore year). Chris and I got out and somehow we managed to push the bus through the drift so we could continue home. When we got back on the bus, we talked a little bit about when we were kids and Chris asked me, "What happened? Why did we stop hanging out?" I didn't know what to say, but I've always wished I had been as good a friend to Chris as he was to me.

These comments are great. It's nice to share the memories of our classmates that are no longer with us. I have to agree that Chris was a good person, he was often misunderstood. He had a kind heart and he was a good father. I had the chance to associate with him at some family things and he was very proud of his two boys. I am going to share the fond memories with his grandma, she will be tickled to hear people thought so much of him. Thanks!

Chris knew how to laugh about anything and everything. I remember one time when i was having a really bad day and chris was really serious and sweet when asking me what was the matter. i can't remember what was wrong but i remember when i told chris he just started laughing. I was so mad at first then after talking to him realized how small and silly the situation was. He made me feel alot better. Even tho he pretty much laughed at me.. i'll never forget how much it felt like he cared at that moment. I think of chris as a nice guy.. who didn't worry if people thought he was a nice guy. He was your friend because he wanted to be, and he cared.. plain and simple.

Does anyone have a picture of Chris that they can post?

I also have good memories of Chris. He did have a wild boy reputation, but he was one of the sweetest guys I've ever met, and I will always remember him as that. I too met Chris in the 6th grade in Mrs. Nacheffs class, he was always getting into trouble, but he always made us all laugh, he even had Mrs. Nacheff wrapped around his finger, she couldn't even stay mad at him while she was punishing him,he would have her laughing just like the rest of us. I will never forget when we were playing baseball for intermurals and I was up to bat, the other team all moved in, cuz I was a girl, they didn't think I could hit the ball, which made me kinda mad, then Chris came up behind me at the plate and said "let'um have it Suz", which made me have all the confidence I needed and i whacked the ball way out centerfield over thier heads and got a homerun. Chris was right there at homeplate yellling me in and waiting with a huge hug when I got there. Chris was an awesome friend and I'm so glad to have had the chance to know him.

Chris was great. I remember going to his house and we tried fishing or something when the water when out of the canal and there were just puddles. I did not go alot of places when I was younger but I remember going to his house a couple of times. He was always very nice. I have known him since I was 5 or 6. Somewhere I have my school pictures from around there, alot of our class is in them. I do believe Chris is as well. I will try to find them.
