Shirley "Ileen" Michelson passed away June 10, 2024, at the Gables Assisted Living in Blackfoot, Idaho.
Ileen was born in Blackfoot, Idaho on August 23, 1943, to Horace and lona Herrick. She was one of 7 children in her family. She attended school in Snake River and graduated from Snake River High School in 1962.
While attending school, she was a member of the school drill team called the Twirlers. She was also a member of the Legislative Lassie's group. While growing up she had horses and enjoyed them immensely. She had fond memories of her horses clear into her later years.
lleen met and married Hyrum Michelson on May 18, 1984. They celebrated 40 years of marriage this year. Ileen and Hyrum had a wonderful life together and enjoyed each other's time. She worked and managed the King's store in Blackfoot, as well as helped on the farm with Hyrum. lleen was an extremely hard worker and was always willing to help where needed. One of her many hobbies was crocheting, as well as working in the garden with her flowers and taking care of their yard. She was a great example of showing love, dedication and perseverance. Hyrum and lleen's example of enduring love to each other resonated to all who knew them.
lleen was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in various callings throughout her life. During her years of attending the church's Relief Society, she found joy in visiting the elderly and serving as a visiting teacher.
She is survived by her husband Hyrum; brothers, Gayle (Barbara) Herrick of Taylorsville, Utah, Arnold (Karen) Herrick of Moreland, Idaho, Roy (Joan) of Heyburn, Idaho.
She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Norine Putnam; brothers, Bert Herrick and Roger Herrick.
Graveside services will be held at the Moreland Cemetery in Blackfoot, Idaho on Monday, June 17, 2024 at 2:00 p.m., a viewing will be held an hour prior at the Hawker Funeral Home starting at 1 p.m. 132 S. Shilling Avenue in Blackfoot, Idaho 83221.
