Stephen Allan Larsen, 65
Stephen Allan Larsen, 65, of Blackfoot, passed away
January 30, 2009 at his home.
Steve was born December 8, 1943 to Barbara Grace
Elswood Larsen and Allan Franklin Larsen in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
He attended grade school in Firth, and then Snake River
Schools, graduating from Snake River High School in 1962. He
was a member of the band and a Trumpet Triple Trio. He went
on to Ricks College where he received his Associate Degree, he
then continued his education at Brigham Young University in
Utah, receiving his Bachelor and later his Masters Degree in
Business Administration.
After serving a faithful mission in Central Britain, Steve
married Susan Richards on March 4, 1966 in the Idaho Falls Temple. Together they had eleven
children.
Steve was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He served in
numerous callings, including Counselor in the Boise, Idaho Mission, in the Stake Presidency, as
Bishop, High Counselor, and was currently teaching the Gospel and Doctrine Class.
Steve was actively involved in the Fine Arts, the Blackfoot Rotary Club, and was a
member of the Snake River Orchestra.
Steve farmed on the family farm with his father for ten years. He worked in the
investment, financial planning and insurance business, starting with Boy Scouts of America as
the Endowment Director of the newly formed Teton Council, and spent the last two years serving
as District Director, including supervising others.
When he could, Steve loved spending time working with his hands and doing
leatherwork. He won the Blue Ribbon in 8th grade for a saddle he made. He enjoyed reading and
bicycling.
Steve is survived by his wife of 42 years, Susan; his children, Stephani (Lindsay)
Bennion, of Hyde Park, Utah, Shauntel (Randall) Anderson, of Smithfield, Utah, Stephen
(Bonnie) Larsen of Wellsville, Utah, David (Andrea) Larsen, of Boise, Idaho, Jonie Johnson-
Harper, of Cass Lake, Minnesota, Rebecca (Chet) Seely, of Chandler, Arizona, John (Laurel)
Larsen, of Canton, Missouri, Michael (Marci) Larsen, of Burley, Idaho, Paul (Jenny) Larsen, of
Midland, Missouri, Timothy Larsen, of Boise, Idaho, and Sara Kay Larsen, of Rexburg, Idaho;
his brothers, Gary (Linda) Larsen, of Blackfoot, Idaho, Stafford Larsen, of Ogden, Utah, Mark
(Rita) Larsen, of Thornton, Colorado, and Rick (Terry) Larsen, of Pocatello, Idaho; and sisters,
Jeannie (Scott) Gentry, of Show Low, Arizona, and Karen (Jim) Van Fleet, of Layton, Utah; 35
grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at the Blackfoot
Northwest Stake Center, with Bishop Troy Goodwin conducting. Family will meet with friends
and relatives on Tuesday, February 3, 2009 form 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Hawker Funeral
Home, 132 South Shilling Avenue, Blackfoot, and for one hour prior to services at the church.
Internment will follow at the Riverside Thomas Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests
supporting the Perpetual Education Fund and BSA. Any remembrance of Steve would be
