Joe grew up on the family farm in Pingree, Idaho. He attended Snake River High School. He married Patricia Bates on Halloween in 1964. He served in the Navy during the Vietnam War. Pat and Joe had a farm in Pingree when Jody and Jon were little. Joe worked as a Welder in Rockford and for the Railroad in Pocatello. In 1985 they moved to Boise with Julie and Lucas where they opened a daycare in their home. For 24 years they cared for many children who are still near and dear to their hearts. After they retired from daycare Joe spent his time doing what he loved, driving around and seeing the country. He was willing to pull a trailer most anywhere as long as he could be out on the road. Joe also loved that he had more time to fish. He never picked a favorite spot, he just needed a pole and bait.
