Ray Cherry

I graduated BHS with 1.3 GPA. Did not have a plan. Went to Ga. with my Dad and ended up at UGA. Dropped out senior year and hit rock bottom. Found the Lord in 1991. Came back to B'burg and got B.S. at Radford. Got a job in impoverished Mecklenburg county school system as art teacher. I've been here ever since. It's been an adjustment. My wife stays home and homeschools on my teacher's salary. We don't eat out much. Alot of poverty here. I am discovering the important things in life. Money helps, and we work hard for more, but it's not the all in all. The town I live in has 400 people. I have an awesome godly wife. We've been married since 1997. By being obedient to God I have been transformed into a much different person than you remember. Do you know Jesus? He's awesome!!!!!!!!!!!

The fake ID's I made in art class. Many of us enjoyed alcoholic liberties with those Kentucky ID's. The time Roger Cole set off the fire extinguisher in the "Buikema mobile" while Matt was driving down Prices Fork Rd. I wasn't there but I heard Matt abandonded his mom's car in the middle of the road. Selling Cokes at Hokie games. How did Alan Saul keep dip in his mouth during class? I tried it, and had an emergency visit to restroom. Playing intramural basketball and watching Mark Ryan cuss out referees. Is Electric Woodshed still playing gigs in B'burg? "Two lunches please."
