Thomas Wooten "Tommy" Powell Jr., 50, of Blakely died Monday, Jan. 14, 2008, at Early Memorial Nursing Home.
Mr. Powell was born in Bulloch County, Ga., Jan. 7, 1958, to Mary Jane Hutchins Timmons and the late Thomas Wooten Powell Sr. He was a graduate of Bainbridge College with an associate degree in forest technology and a member of Blakely First Baptist Church.
Survivors, other than his mother, include a sister, Glynda Nix and husband Jerry of Jakin.
Funeral services are today, Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2008, at 4 p.m. at Blakely First Baptist Church with Dr. Charles DeVane and Dr. Alex Howell officiating. Interment will follow at Blakely Cemetery with Rev. Heath Kahlbau officiating.
Pallbearers are Russell McNeal, Michael McNeal, Jay Bostwick, Vic Knight, Robert Sheffield, Jerry Love, Billy Cannon, Bruce Houston and Dale Dickens.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Blakely or to Walk by Faith Ministries c/o Alex Howell, 338 College St., Blakely, GA 39823.
Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
