
BLOOMINGTON — Judy L. Damon, 70, Bloomington, passed away Tuesday (Jan. 28, 2014) at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center, Normal, with her family by her side after her courageous battle with cancer.
She was born Jan. 25, 1944, in Normal, to Jesse and Hazel McClure Bagwell. On Nov. 5, 1966, she married Byron W. Damon.
Judy worked at The Pantagraph for 16 years before retirement. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Women’s Auxiliary and Women of the Moose. She enjoyed her grandchildren, country music, dancing and participating in Relay for Life yearly. She was a very giving woman who always had a laugh and smile on her face.
Survivors include her children, Tina (Bill) Tate, Heyworth, and Debbie (Gary) Shepherd and Brian Damon, both of Bloomington; 11 grandchildren; cousin, Juanita Bess, Bloomington; special companion Gary White, Bloomington; along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sister, Donna Underwood.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Friday until the 1 p.m. service at East Lawn Funeral Home, Bloomington. The Rev. Cheryl Peterson-Karlan will officiate. Interment will be at East Lawn Memorial Gardens, Bloomington.
Memorials may be made to the family for a future donation in Judy’s name.
