Heyworth -- The funeral of James L. Brown, 53, 505 Arrowhead, Heyworth, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the East Lawn Funeral Home, Bloomington, the Rev. Ed Porter officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Gardens,  Bloomington. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. He died at 1:25 p.m. Friday (Aug. 2, 1996) at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington. Memorials may be made to the Community Baptist Church in Heyworth.

Survivors include his wife, Dorthea Susan Brown, Heyworth; his mother, Juanita Brown, Hudson; one daughter, Laura Brown, at home; two sisters, Carol Boring, Hudson, and Janet Robinson, Bloomington.

He was born July 16, 1943, at Decatur, the son of LeRoy and Juanita Benton Brown. He married Dorthea Susan Outlaw Nov. 11, 1978, at Bloomington.

Mr. Brown was a building service worker at Illinois State University for 17 years until his retirement in December 1995.

He was a member of AFSCME Local 1110 and the Community Baptist Church in Heyworth, where he was a trustee.
