David Friedman

NORMAL — David F. Friedman, 72, of Normal, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at 12:06 a.m. Wednesday (March 8, 2017) at Richard L Owens Hospice Home, Peoria. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Central Illinois Small Animal Rescue.

He was born March 23, 1944, in Bloomington, a son of Harry Friedman and Margaret Wertz Friedman. He married Cheryl A. Miller. He later married Linda Lovin; they were together for 32 years.

Surviving are his wife, Linda Lovin Friedman; two children, Harry Friedman, Normal, and Josephine (Brian) Hundman, Bloomington. He had three grandchildren, Cole, Carley and Lola Hundman; a sister, Karen (Gerald) Neal, North Reddington Beach, Fla.; a half brother, Steve Dubosh, Bloomington; and a half sister, Debbie Northcutt, Tampa, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews. He was a friend to many and his lifetime friend, Jim, was equally a part of his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Friedman and Margaret Friedman Dubosh, and two brothers-in-law, Richard Treiber and James Anderson.

He led an incredibly full life. David proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was an electrical engineer; he attended Bloomington and Trinity High schools. He was a plumbing contractor, inventor and patent holder. He was a hobby pilot and boating enthusiast. He also enjoyed fishing, scuba diving, photography and playing in backgammon tournaments. In his younger years, he was a Golden Gloves boxer.

David will always be known for his keen sense of humor and quick wit. He will be dearly missed.

In lieu of a memorial service, the family is planning a celebration of life in the summer.
