
DOWNS — George F. Gilmore II, 75, of Downs, passed away at 9:45 p.m. Friday (Feb. 7, 2020) at Sugar Creek Alzheimer's Special Care Center, Normal.
A celebration of his life will be at a later date. Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington, is assisting the family with cremation arrangements.
Memorials may be directed to Wish Bone Canine Rescue.
George was born March 3, 1944, in Chicago, the son of William H. and Felicia A. Patrickie Gilmore. He married Marjorie L. Hazelwood on Feb. 8, 1963, in Bloomington. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, George F. Gilmore III, Clinton, Tenn., and Bradley (Vicki Buckles) Gilmore, Bloomington; three grandchildren, Zachary Gilmore, Quincy, and Felicia and Rachael Gilmore, Mackinaw; two great-grandchildren, Noah and Bella Gilmore; and a brother, William P. Gilmore, Kankakee.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Kyle T. Gilmore.
George graduated from Bloomington High School where he played football. He owned and operated Group Tool & Die in Bloomington from 1973 to 2006. He had many employees and made many lasting friendships throughout his business career.
George enjoyed fishing, boating and was a licensed pilot. The family would like to thank Vicki Buckles for being George's personal caregiver for the past seven years.
