Dale Jaspers
Bloomington -- The funeral of Dale Jay Jaspers, 58, of Bloomington, will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton. Capt. Erik Jaspers and Bryan Lowry will officiate. Burial will military rites will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Kenney. Visitation will be after 11:30 a.m. Friday at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton.
Mr. Jaspers died at 8:40 a.m. Tuesday (Sept. 25, 2001) on Interstate 55 near Funks Grove, from injuries suffered in an automobile accident.
Memorials may be made to Kenney Heritage Association or the American Red Cross.
He was born Feb. 14, 1943, a son of Dale John and Mary Elizabeth Jaspers. He married Roberta Cutright on June 2, 1990, in Bloomington. She survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Anne-Marie (Drake Flessnor) Jaspers-Wells, Bloomington; one son, Capt. Erik (Sharon) Jaspers, Castle Rock, Colo.; and one sister, Victoria Wilson, Bloomington.
Also surviving are two grand-daughters, Allyson Jaspers and Elizabeth Jaspers.
His parents preceded him in death.
Mr. Jaspers was a graduate of Illinois State University, Normal. He retired after 23 years as Senior Master Sgt. in the US Air Force He received the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Device, Air Force Outstanding Award with Valor, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Air Medal with 1 Device, Air Force Commendation Medal with 3 Device, Air Force Achievement Medal, Air Force Good Conduct Medal with 5 Device. Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, NCO Professional Military education ribbon, Combat Readiness Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon with 4 Device, National Defense Service Medal and Vietnam Service Medal.
He was a member of the Society for Creative Anachronisms.
