BLOOMINGTON — James K. Smith, 70, of Bloomington, passed away at 2:04 a.m. Monday (May 4, 2015) at his residence with his family by his side.

Private family services will be at a later date. There will be no visitation. Beck Memorial Home, Bloomington, has been entrusted with the arrangements.

James was born Aug. 2, 1944, the son of Kenneth C. and Lucille M. Garling Smith. He married Kathleen McLaughlin on July 9, 1977, in Bloomington. She survives.

Also surviving are his children, Trent (Cheryl) Shull, Lake of the Ozarks, Mo.; Tony (Elizabeth) Smith, Bloomington; Jeffrey McLaughlin, Indiana; and, Amanda (John) Lanier, Bloomington; grandson, Chris M. Smith, and nine additional grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Troy Smith; and his brother, Daniel Smith.
