Sharron Bess Obituary

KEWANEE- Sharron J. Bess, 79, of Kewanee, died peacefully at 11:05 p.m., Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at Betty’s Garden Memory Care in Kewanee.

Cremation has been accorded and graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 28 at Wethersfield Cemetery with Pastor John Reside officiating. Memorials may be directed to the First Christian Church in Kewanee or to Abilities Plus.

She was born June 29, 1944 in Bloomington, IL, the daughter of James and Mildred (Burke) Swearingen. She married Dale E. Bess on May 28, 1965 in Danvers, IL and he preceded her in death on September 29, 2009. She is survived by her son Jim Bess of Kewanee. Sharron was also preceded in death by her parents, her son Chuck Bess, and her sister Connie Johnston.

Sharron worked as a Teacher’s Aide with Henry County Special Education at the Wethersfield School District until her retirement. She was a member of the Henry County Senior Citizens Board. Sharron also enjoyed volunteering with the Special Olympics through Abilities Plus in Kewanee.
